Crystal Dunn, a rising sports star who has been vital in getting the American Women’s Soccer Team to the World Cup final, has played a crucial part in aiding her team win in pursuit of tomorrow’s final but she will not, whatever the outcome, be named player of the tournament. Yesterday, FIFA released the list of 7 players in line to win the Adidas Golden Ball. Crystal Dunn was not on this list.
Five of the chosen players will not even be playing in the final game. These players include: Japan’s Mana Iwabuchi and Chinatsu Kira. Germany’s Valeria Kleiner and sharp-shooting Dzsenifer Marozsan, and England’s team captain Jordan Nobbs. The only contenders who will play in tomorrow’s tournament finale are North Korean striker Jon Myong Hwa and the U.S. player Kristie Mewis. Additional information and detail can be found on the Regional News Blog All in all, the victor of the Golden Ball is to be judged by accredited media and must first be named on the FIFA-supplied list. Marozsan, of Germany, goes into the final day with six goals – only one more than American striker Vicki DiMartino and two more than American, Courtney Verloo.
The US team has a chance to add this trophy to those won at the Women’s World Cup, Olympic gold, and the Under-20 World Cup. The Americans have won the inaugural tournaments at all levels thus far.

According to various media reports former baseball player Jose Canseco pleaded guilty in front of Magistrate Judge Ruben Brooks of a federal misdemeanor for an October 9th border stop where he was charged with having performance enhancing drugs. It was not the first time he has been involved in criminal charges and he probably has a good criminal defense lawyer.
Canseco said that he had made an error not declaring the six vials of human chorionic gonadotropin that had labels printed in Spanish. At the time of the stop in question he had no prescription for the vials or the usage instructions he was carrying in his vehicle. Not sure what kind of defense that would be in a criminal court case. He plead guilty to a federal misdemeanor of bringing mislabeled performance enhancing drugs into the United States across the border from Mexico. By the way you can find out more information about this and other related sports news over at the Sports news weblog Now back to the story:
This type of performance enhancing drug, human chorionic gonadotropin is known to substantially increase the testosterone in men.
Canseco, age 44, hit 462 home runs during his major league career and then in 2005 he admitted to taking anabolic steroids. He spent much of his career in California (Los Angeles and Oakland) as well as on the East Coast. Canseco has been sentenced to ten months of unsupervised probation.
More criminal law/entertainment coming out of Los Angeles or as I prefer to call it, Holly Weird.
The trial of Anand Jon, a fashion designer, will be decided by a jury as they deliberate the facts they have been given during a trial where the prosecution presented evidence that Jon had promised modeling jobs to woman and girls as young as 14 years old. His defense lawyer has also has presented their case and attacked the credibility of one of Jon’s accusers when she was asked on the stand by the defense if she was telling any lies. The 20 year old woman who was close to tears replied “I don’t recall.”
The defense also show a number of Jon’s accusers in the criminal assault trial that continued to contact him by telephone and email after the dates they claimed the events had taken place. Jon who is formally named Anand Jon Alexander is facing 23 felony and misdemeanor charges that include sexual assault and rape which carry a life sentence. The charges involve nine women. By the way if your crib is in Los Angeles and you need a world beating Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer then I would highly recommend you give a call to the respected Law Offices of Ramiro Luis a ring. He is certainly a top flank Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer now working in this area. In addition to LA he also covers communities such as Pacific Palasades, Santa Barbara and San Diego. The prosecution also called seven additional witnesses from Texas and New York where Jon is also facing criminal charges. Jon was arrested in March 2007 after a grand jury in Los Angeles indicted him on 59 charges. The prosecution dropped over half of the charges prior to going to trial. In my opinion there is simply no defense for those kinds of criminal acts, if he is convicted. For his sake he had better have a good lawyer.
