In Los Angeles County, Barbra Streisand Sued for Fall Accident

I just returned from los Angeles (to obtain some furniture of all things) and now it is time to write. In early December, last month, it was reported that a carpenter who slipped and fell into a ditch on her property is suing Barbra Streisand. Daniel Ortiz said he was working at the singer’s home in Malibu (I bet there is some nice designer furniture in that house) when he fell into a ditch, which he claims, he should have been warned about. I am sure he has an attorney.
According to the source, Ortiz claims that as a consequence of the fall, he has experienced mental and physical distress, embarrassment, anxiety, and loss of enjoyment of life. He contends that Streisand was neglectful in not warning him of the hazardous conditions on her property. He claims that she should have made the conditions safe. Los Angeles accidents can result in injuries, fractures and broken bones, back and hip injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and other painful and debilitating injuries. As a
brief aside if you are looking for a superb Furniture Source then please allow me to recommend this firm. They can help with a number of designer and other types of furniture as well. Now back to the main story:
Under California Liability laws, a property owner can be held liable for California premises liability if a injured party is able to provide evidence that the property owner knew or should have known about the hazardous condition, is responsible for the danger on the premise, neglected to inform that the danger existed on the property, and failed to act as a “reasonable” person would have by taking steps to prevent the accident from occurring, even if it was tripping over a peice of lawn chair furniture, for example.. That is why so many attorney are out there.

Roman Polanski case making Waves in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles community is abuzz right now because Hollywood has taken some flack for it’s backing of Roman Polanski.
He has retained a top lawyer but the power elite of Los Angeles (well, more specifically the Los Angeles film community) have largely rushed to his aide in this infamous case, or should I say, sordid saga. It seems many people have a “no injury, no foul” sort of attitude about the whole thing. Polanski himself has had his share of misfortune. He grew up in a German concentration camp and his wife and unborn child both suffered fatal injury at the hands of the manson family in that notorious case from the 60’s. Then in the 70’s he was forced to flee the United States and head to Europe, where he was able to continue his film career. The Europeans are less judgemental about this sort of thing, apparently. If you need a Los Angeles Injury lawyer then may I suggest Mansell, one of the finest injury lawyers in all of the city of angels. As it now stands, some analysts and writers are commenting lately that the film industry’s particularly strong support of the director is in fact clear evidence of just how out of touch they are with public opinion around the globe. Some publications are loudly motion picture people who have so visibly and publicly come to his aid, such as Harvey Weinstein of Mirimax Pictures, who called his conduct as a “so-called crime.”
Some of the other supporters in the industry for the beleagured filmmaker include Woody Allen (himself accused of improper conduct with a child), filmmaker Jonathan Demme, Sam Mendes, high profile producer Mike Nichols (producer of such films as the 1994 Thriller Wolf) and award winner Martin Scorsese, the director of films such as ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘Boxcar Bertha’, ‘The Color of Money’, ‘Cape Fear’, ‘Goodfellas’ and also ‘Casino’. In any case, for Polanski’s sake I am kind of hope he remains in European jail for now. After all, American prisoners are noted for their distaste of child abusers. They generally respond in kind tenfold to such individuals.

Former Might Morphan Power Ranger Star Charged

In more bizarre celebrity legal headlines, TMZ is reporting that the police in Huntsville, Alabama handcuffed a Former Mighty Morphin Power Ranger. Walter Jones played power ranger Zack Taylor. All in all, he was arrested for DUI on Sunday night. He was recently written out of the power ranger television series midway through season number two. This was allegedly because of various disagreements over his earnings and fees. As an aside if you live near the Windy City and could use a powerful Chicago dui lawyer then I humbly recommend Mathew Miller. He is quite simply one best Chicago dui lawyer around. In other headlines, a Baltimore County Republican Central Committee chairman called for the resignation of County Councilman Sam Moxley. Sam Moxely is a 4-term Democrat that was arrested on DUI charges in the City of Baltimore. All in all, he is facing his 2nd DUI offense in only 4 years. He is a fifty year old man; for his part, he was allegedly involved in a 4-car accident at around 1:20 a.m. Friday on West Franklin Street at North Pulaski Street. Mr. Moxley failed a field sobriety test and was the arrested and detained That must have been embarrasing for him. He later refused a Blood Alcohol Breathalyzer test. Yeah, like that is going to help him in court. It just makes him look more guilty of dui, in my opinion. Having said that, he is innocent untill proven guilty in a court of law.

Fate Of Fashion Designer Anand Jon In Hands Of Jury For Assault

More criminal law/entertainment coming out of Los Angeles or as I prefer to call it, Holly Weird.

The trial of Anand Jon, a fashion designer, will be decided by a jury as they deliberate the facts they have been given during a trial where the prosecution presented evidence that Jon had promised modeling jobs to woman and girls as young as 14 years old. His defense lawyer has also has presented their case and attacked the credibility of one of Jon’s accusers when she was asked on the stand by the defense if she was telling any lies. The 20 year old woman who was close to tears replied “I don’t recall.”

The defense also show a number of Jon’s accusers in the criminal assault trial that continued to contact him by telephone and email after the dates they claimed the events had taken place. Jon who is formally named Anand Jon Alexander is facing 23 felony and misdemeanor charges that include sexual assault and rape which carry a life sentence. The charges involve nine women. By the way if your crib is in Los Angeles and you need a world beating Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer then I would highly recommend you give a call to the respected Law Offices of Ramiro Luis a ring. He is certainly a top flank Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer now working in this area. In addition to LA he also covers communities such as Pacific Palasades, Santa Barbara and San Diego. The prosecution also called seven additional witnesses from Texas and New York where Jon is also facing criminal charges. Jon was arrested in March 2007 after a grand jury in Los Angeles indicted him on 59 charges. The prosecution dropped over half of the charges prior to going to trial. In my opinion there is simply no defense for those kinds of criminal acts, if he is convicted. For his sake he had better have a good lawyer.

According to a number of media reports the former drummer of the Guns N’ Roses rock band was arrested in Los Angeles on alleged drug possession, as well as being under the influence plus an outstanding warrant. He hit into a triple play you might say.

It seems that Mr. Adler was picked up when the authorities were called to a house in the Los Angeles area according to a statement by the LAPD, after Adler had refused to leave the house. Apparently the outstanding warrant was for a court case in which he was charged several years ago for dui as well as driving with a suspended drivers license and missing an April 2006 court date for the incident.Wow this guy really covers all the bases. As it turned out, Adler was booked and incarcerated. Bail was set at $45,000. According to the relevent reports the incident happened at about 4:00 in the morning…. Incidentially if you live in the state of Colorado and you need a truly superlative Denver Wrongful death lawyers then please check out the Law offices of Larry D. Lee. This is not the first incident in relation to narcotics, during a 1995 incident residents in a Sherman Oaks, california neighborhood called the authorities when Adler appeared to be sick inside his car. Adler was suffering from a heroin overdose and was later charged in the incident.

Adler with his lawyers filed a suit that challenged his dismissal from the Guns N’ Roses band in 1989 as being wrongful, the manager of the band testified that his drug addiction was the reason he was dismissed from the band.

It is reported that Adler was expected to be a part of a new reality program named Sober Living for his detoxification and treatment he under went last month.

Adler is claiming he is innocent of the alleged charges. Yeah, I am sure he was innocent all those may other times as well. I remember back when Axel Rose said that “someone has been dancing with mr. brownstone” in an apparent reference to Adlers drug use. Wrongful termination?. Guns N’ Roses is known for such hits as ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, ‘Sweet Child of mine’, ‘November Rain’ and ‘patience’ but they have not released an album in over a decade and there has been some reported discord between band members.

Criminal Celebrity news: Charles manson Follower denied Parole

Susan Atkins, a Charles Manson groupie/cult member/disciple who was convicted of the murder of Sharon Tate and her unborn child, along with seven other murders during the summer of 1969, was denied parole for time number twelve in twelve attempts. She apparently has reportedly brain cancer. She is also sixt years of age.

There was some testimony from 18 out of 23 witnesses who said she should be released, while the Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office prosecutor Patrick Sequeria said that justice has been served here. He stated that her release would disrespect family members of the victims and would also be offensive to the
California criminal justice system. He went on to say that Atkins had received a break by the justice system when her death sentence was over turned in the early seventies to life in prison with the possibility of parole. Incidentially if you happen to reside in the San Jose area and you would like to find a superlative San Jose Criminal Defense Attorney then by all means take a look at the Law Offices of Edward N. Ajlouny. In addition to being a truly amazing San Jose Criminal Defense Attorney he also covers most of the San Francisco area including Oakland and is a California Domestic violence attorney too…..All in all, he can help to guide you through the tangled web known as the criminal justice system Even though his main offices happen to be in San Jose he can covers most of the bay area generally including Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Gilroy, Los Gatos and also Mountain View. Alright let us get back to the story here:

It has also been reported that the California Board of Parole Hearing eleven members spent several hours deciding the fate of Atkins before the decision to deny her parole, it is reported that it was a unanimous vote. The friends and relatives of Susan Atkins who is now sixty have said that she is not really expected to live through the year due to her brain cancer. Atkins is currently hospitalized in Southern California near the jail in question where she was held prior to her sickness. This is a sad story indeed for all involved. There really are no winners here, that is for sure.

Well Known Community Fund Raiser and Organizer Found Guilty

More legal/celebrity related news from out of the Golden State: Famous community fund raiser Julie Lee was found guilty on fully 5 of the 7 charges that were brought against her. The 7 charges against her come from a $500,000 grant for the
Sunset District Community Center.

The charges against Lee were four charges of mail fraud and three charges of witness tampering and two of the mail fraud charges she was acquitted, while a jury in the Sacramento U.S District Court convicted her of two mail fraud charges and the three witness tampering charges.

The charges against Lee has alleged she that in 2002 Lee had plotted to funnel funds from the state grant money into the California Secretary of State Kevin Shelly and the Sunset District Community Center was not developed. This all first came to light in a newspaper story several years ago in the Chronicle which focused on the improper ethics of Lees fund raising. This story certainly raised some eyebrows. This also helped to end the former California Secretary of State Kevin Shelly’s career in politics. Shelly resigned after the Chronicle reported that out of the $500,000 state grant money approximately $168,750 dollars of it was found in Shelly’s campaign account. Shelly has been cleared of any wrongdoing in connection with the charges filed against Lee.

September 3rd is the date set for Lee’s sentencing and the 61 year old faces up to 70 years in prison along with fines that can go as high as $1.2 million dollars. by the way if you happen to live in California and you require an excellent California Medical Malpractice Lawyer then might I recommend the super law offices of Scott Righthand. Hicks claims that Judge does not Have His Best Interest In Mind

Brian Kenneth Hicks, the criminal celebrity who is accused of trafficking drugs and leading the famous (or perhaps infamous might be the better word) gang known as the Elite Eights told U.S. District Judge Wiley Y. Daniel he wanted a brand new attorneys. All in all, he went on to tell the judge that his current attorneys were wasting precious time on motions and wanted to enter in a plea bargain type of agreement. .

Hicks charged with trafficking thousands of kilos of crack cocaine convinced the judge and when the judge asked the present attorneys, they stated due to representing the client they could not comment.

Recently the grand jury handed down indictments that charged that the high profile criminal was the leader of the members of drug traffickers as well as conspiring to distribute crack cocaine.

Attorneys Jonathan Willet and Walter Gerash are the attorneys who are representing him at this time that he asked to have them fired from the job in question. So he will be able to replace them with attorneys who will follow his wishes, as he believes that the prosecution has little evidence in his case according to his statement to the judge.

Hicks made no mention of any criminal attorneys that he might replace his current defense attorneys with and only alluded to the fact that his family was going to retain an attorney. Speaking of attorneys,

if you happen to live in the Miami, Florida locale and when you are charged with a criminal offense it takes the expertise of Miami criminal attorney to ensure the case is prepared to your advantage because it can mean your very freedom. David Garvin is simply one of the best miami criminal attorney out there. In fact a good Miami criminal attorney may prepare your case and represent you if you are arrested

Two other men associated with Hicks are also mentioned in the indictments and are facing charges. They are also believed to have been in his Chevy Tahoe, when a drive by shooting occurred that involved Denver Broncos team member Darrent Williams. Hicks has taken on a high profile in the notorious cocaine underword, much like the fictional Miami based cocanine kingpin Tony Montana in the crime saga ‘Scarface’ starring Al Pacino.
